Sefton Psychology Services was formed by Dr Oliver Sefton to provide specialist private psychological services to individuals and organisations across Cheshire and Staffordshire. Dr Sefton is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist chartered with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). Dr Sefton has experience of working across a wide range of services including adult mental health services and neuro-rehabilitation settings in the NHS and private sector. He also worked in the NHS as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in neuro-rehabilitation up until recently. He holds an honours degree in Psychology, a Post Graduate Certificate in Mental Health Care Practice, a Diploma in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and a Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. He has also undertaken further study and training in the field of neuropsychology. He has achieved Chartered status and Associate Fellow status with the BPS. Both of which are legally recognised, and reflects only the highest standard of psychological knowledge and expertise, and which mark recognition of several years' experience and contribution to the field of psychology.
Dr Sefton is experienced in providing evidence based psychological therapies, integrated where necessary, to help individuals overcome their difficulties. He has specific expertise and experience with successfully helping individuals with difficulties including but not limited to low mood, anxiety, stress, phobias, obsessive compulsive disorder, confidence issues, adjustment after acquired brain injury and neuro-rehabilitation. The therapeutic models he uses include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution Focussed Therapy, Brief Psychodynamic Therapy and Mindfulness Based approaches.
Dr Sefton is also experienced in providing case consultation to services and designing and delivering bespoke training in areas such as Challenging Behaviour after acquired brain injury, assessment of Mental Capacity, and neurocognitive rehabilitation.
